Welcome to week fifty three of NARC’s contest news.

No RSGB HF contest results this week.

Two results came in in this week for VHF contests.

The result 50MHZ UKAC of 08/9/2022 came out on 23/9/2022. You may remember conditions were abysmal and I, for one, lost two good distance QSOs to poor copy. NARC entered 8 logs for this one which led to our moving up to 4th position in this series.

The results of the 432MHz UKAC of 13/9/2022 were released on 24th September. Conditions were fairly good for this one and 7 logs had eventually been submitted by NARC members. As a result of this we have moved up to 9th place in this series.

We currently remain in 9th place in the overall UKAC series in the General Clubs section.

The NARC UKAC contest team is growing in numbers, thanks to all who are helping out.

There have been no relevent RSGB HF contests this week.

At least three club members took part in the CQ WW RTTY contest on 24th/25th September. Activity was high with some good DX about.

I received this report from Peter M0RYB:-

"I hadn’t particularly planned to do much in the CQWW RTTY test, but on Saturday morning I received an email from a Chilean ham who had read an enquiry I had put on the N1MM forum 4 years ago. The ham asked if I had resolved the problem of getting RTTY out to the antenna, as he had recently purchased a K3.

Well, I had, but that was 4 years, another rig, and a different RTTY engine ago.

So I dug out the K3 and loaded the MMTTY engine, and although I had the *.ini file in N1MM for the K3, it refused to work. However with some memory bashing all 3 entities (the rig, N1MM and MMTTY) finally agreed to talk to each other.

Further email correspondence to Chile ensued, and after some final tweaks, Fernando reported a completed qso.

I had been testing how the rig etc was behaving by having qsos with other contestants, and as Fernando had mentioned 10m was open, I had a look there. Indonesia and South America (not Fernando, though, that would have been nice) were there, so I thought I would do a bit more, ending up with:

My own rather casual effort looked like this:-

Band QSOs Pts ZN Cty SP  Pt/Q
3,5    20       38    3   16    0   1,9
7       12       29    7   11    1   2,4
14     35       94    8   14  15   2,7
21       9       22    7     9    0   2,4
28     26       76  11   13    0   2,9
Total 102    259 36   63  16   2,5
Score: 29.785

On VHF and up on Tuesday 27th September the SHF UKAC took place. Our only club member currently doing stalwart battle in this one is Graham G3SGC. He tells me conditions were very poor with no tropo enhancement but depite this he managed 5 contacts on 2.3GHz with best DX G8CUL at 233 Km. He is currently only running 0.6W to a 67 element beam but is working on a PA.

We are always on the lookout for new contesters to add to our team and welcome people of any ability who either wish to add their score to ours or develop their skills.

Note, NARC contest net takes place every Friday evening at 9pm clock time on 145.250MHz. This is a useful place to exchange contest information and get help with logging and station setup issues etc.

Contest reports are always appreciated from any club members.

You may remember that Gordon G3PXT won the Tindle cup for MGM modes with 131 DXCCs in the CDXC 2022 LF challenge. Here is a picture of his cup:-
