Monday night net - followup
Thank you very much to everyone who came onto the Clubs Monday night net on Monday evening. I logged 23 people to this truly safe social gathering using GB3NB and it was great to hear and indicates we should certainly make it a regular feature.
While this weeks net was mainly a 'welcome back', I suggest that future nets have themes to keep them fresh and I welcome volunteers to come forward to run future Monday night nets on GB3NB at 7.30pm ... please drop me an email. Rightly this week the net closed rather suddenly so that people could hear the Prime Ministers important announcement at 8.30pm, but future weeks do not have to finish quite as abruptly although 60-90 minutes is probably long enough and if everyone keeps their overs short it can be more of a conversation...
Meantime as I promised tonight, some details of two of the topics which could both benefit health and research in these very difficult times are below.
Take care and stay safe, and please let me know if you have any ideas of how the club can help others.

Engineering a Covid-19 safe way to test peoples eyes...
An Eye Technician at the N&N Hospital has approached the Norwich Engineering Society and NARC to see if we have any mechanical or electronic engineers who feel they can help make testing eyes much safer. Work has been done on something similar before and the following article will give you a feel for what they are looking for:

Whilst it will be of interest to many amateurs this is a serious call for urgent help to see if something can be made quickly to help them. If you feel you have a mechnicial or engineering skill which might be able to help in the first instance please contact myself or Peter M0HBL (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) who will be coordinating the NARC responses with the NES. Please say if you think you can help - no commitment.
Lend the power of your computer to help vital medical research
As some of you may have seen, the founder of Club log Michael G7VJR is sharing some of his company's computing power to helping urgent medical research. Basically the idea is to allow an organisation to use your Mac or PC's computing power when it is not being used and much more details can be found on the links below in Michaels message. It is a great idea and already a couple of club members Jim G3YLA and Andy M0NKR are supporting it with their PCs, although bear in mind there are a few considerations like your computers suitability to run continuously for long periods, so please read all the information fully before taking part or contact Jim or Andy to learn from their experience.
